Self-Powered (SP) Video Systems – To CAA Aviation Standards Case Study Cam-ARA
was the first company in the UK to produce an on-board self-powered (SP)
mini-camera system to record all the action during client's trial lessons for a
leading provider of Air Experience Flights (AEFs) in both classic, and
high-performance aerobatic aircraft. The SP technology was initially
developed for Tiger Moth aircraft flights, and then offered for sale to the
individuals after their flight. With
the Tiger Moth trips, the challenge faced, was that with no inherent electrical
system on-board the aircraft, the entire system had to be self-powered for up to
eleven hours, and without changing batteries! In 2003, Cam-ARA had
systems installed at eight busy airfields across the UK where our client
operated AEFs, and we produced literally thousands of videos and DVDs to
passengers who had enjoyed their flight immensely, so much so, that they wanted
a copy as keepsake to show absent friends, colleagues, and family – and in
many cases simply to remind them of a one in a lifetime experience.
“The Sale”
After their flight, our portable,
high-resolution technology allows them to instantly view a recorded portion of
the flight they had just experienced (including high-quality, and clear sound),
and offer them the choice to purchase their choice of format there and then –
and before leaving the airfield! The
reactions of each passenger usually varies between a combination of surprise,
amazement and delight, resulting in a high percentage of spontaneous sales on
the spot. We have found that the
product regularly sells itself in most cases.
The Difference The distinction between our
product, and that of less significant competitors, is that each video doesn’t
just provide raw footage of the flight, but is also fully edited, and provides
customised colour digital-quality footage, and with crystal-clear sound
(including comprehensible cockpit intercom conversation!)
Cam-ARA
also offers each video at an affordable price, and in three separate formats,
depending on the customer’s choice; (DVD, MDV tape, or VHS).
Video Production The remit is to then produce and
distribute each video sold within twenty eight days of the flight from our main
editing and distribution facility. This
we do, with 99.9% of videos actually being dispatched within fourteen
days of the flight!
Equipment
All equipment is owned and
maintained by Cam-ARA, so there are no set-up costs by the operator.
Just leave it all to us, we will supply all tapes and camera equipment,
pick up recorded tapes, and then process and despatch the finished videos
directly to your customers!
“Small Print” The catch?
There is no catch. In fact – you even take the money at the time of the sale,
and we will only charge you for the videos processed.
What Sets Cam-ARA Apart From Competitors? Having been involved in aviation
for many years, Cam-ARA always find it amusing seeing hastily
gaffer-taped cameras on aircraft, in an attempt to get that “perfect angle.”
In fact, what some owners and operators & Film Crews do not seem to comprehend is, that without obtaining full, written CAA approval, their insurance is ultimately invalidated. Due to increasing CAA restraints on such operators and set-ups, Cam-ARA now own and operate various CAA-approved on-board camera systems. Current CAA minor mods held are: Tiger Moth, Stampe, Cap10, Pa28, Extra 300, Bulldog, Hawker Hunter, EV97 Eurostar, Robinson R22, Cessna 152 & Slingsby T67 Under application: Jet Provost, Pitts S2 For further details
about how we can increase your profit margins, and provide your customers with
an enhanced additional incentive to fly with you, please contact us on the
